A Part Of The United States Commitment To SFOR-----The United States Air Force

These four pictures were taken from the building I work in of the area surrounding the base, I hope you like them and the others.

And DON'T FORGET to sign my guestbook at the bottom of the page!

Here's some other pictures I've collected:

This plane has been sitting in one spot at the Sarajevo Airport since the war. I've been told it rolled off the runway, there are mines around it, and basically no one's bothered to take care of it. This is the same airport that I flew into and out of.

This is a picture of the Sarajevo Holiday Inn (yes, they're EVERYWHERE now). From what I've been told, they paid off the Serbs during the fighting to avoid being shelled because all the reporters were staying there. I had dinner there one night, the interior is rather impressive.

This is what is referred to as the "Newpaper Building". Don't know which one. It's located in downtown Saravejo on a street referred to as "Sniper Alley" during the conflict". Despite the upper level damage, they kept printing on the lower levels throughout the conflict.

The River pictured here flows throught the center of the city, obviously what the city was built around if you ever see a map of the city. One of the bridges on this river is where Archduke Ferdinand was killed (sorry if I misspelled that) marking the offset of World War 1.

Here is a picture of a U2 concert held here in 1997, not too long after hostilities ended.

Mount Trebevic is basically a minefield with a communications tower on top. The peak is only about 5,000 ft., and the tower as I've been told is 80 meters (262.5 ft if I did my conversions correctly). I maintain some equipment up there, and have been to the top, the view is spectular. The Bobsled Track from the 1984 Winter Olympics is located on this mountain, on the down side, so are between 1 and 5 million land mines. One of the two roads have been cleared, but besides that and the compound at the base of the tower and the helicopter pad, don't leave the single road.
